FAQ

CAN I SEE & FEEL YOUR WETSUITS SOMEWHERE?

All of our wetsuits are made-to-order so we don’t have our full range on display, but you can come and see samples of some of our wetsuit range and feel our materials at our workshop in Glenfield, Auckland. We can also take your measurements to help you find the best size for you, or measure you up for a custom wetsuit. You can swing by any time Mon-Sat, 9am-5pm without an appointment.

WHERE ARE BODYLINE WETSUITS MADE?

Every Bodyline wetsuit is made to order from start-to-finish at our workshop in Glenfield, Auckland, by our team of experienced local machinists.

HOW DO I GIVE MY MEASUREMENTS FOR A CUSTOM-FIT WETSUIT?

If you live in Auckland, you can swing by our workshop to be measured by one of our team (Monday - Saturday, 9am - 5pm, no appointment necessary). Otherwise, follow the simple steps on the CUSTOM page of this website to take your measurements at home and fill out our online measurement form. You will need a 150cm measuring tape (you can buy these cheaply from the supermarket) and a friend to take your measurements. It is important that you do not take your own measurements; however, it is not necessary to use a professional tailor (and in fact we'd prefer you didn't) – a friend will do. Please take careful note of our measuring tips to give you, and us, the best chance of getting the correct measurements, and don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY ORDER?

Because all of our wetsuits are made-to-order, it typically takes around 2 weeks from your order date for us to manufacture your wetsuit and ship it to you. Custom wetsuits take a bit longer as we need to create a unique pattern for you. Custom wetsuit orders typically take around 4-6 weeks from the date you send us your measurements. Please also allow a few extra days for shipping. If you need to receive your wetsuit earlier, please contact us first so we can see whether it's possible to help you out.

TRYING ON A NEW WETSUIT

Put your wetsuit on from the bottom-up, feet first, pulling it up inch-by-inch and making sure that the seams are not twisted, that the knee-pads line up over your knees without any wrinkles behind your knees, and that it’s not bunching around your crotch. You want a snug fit, but your suit shouldn’t be so tight that your range of movement is impaired. Remember that your suit will loosen up and feel more comfortable once you’re in the water.

WHAT IF MY WETSUIT DOESN'T FIT?

First, see our guide to trying on your wetsuit (above) and make sure you're putting it on properly. If you're still not completely happy with the fit, get in touch with us as soon as possible, at the latest within ONE MONTH of receiving your wetsuit, to discuss what we can do for you.

RETURNS POLICY

All of our wetsuits (including both stock-size and custom wetsuits) are made-to-your-order, and so we do not accept "change of mind" returns. If you are not completely happy with how your wetsuit fits, we will help you find a solution provided that you get in touch with us within 1 month of receiving your wetsuit.

STOCK-SIZE ITEMS: If your stock-size wetsuit does not fit you properly we will exchange it for a different size. The wetsuit must be returned to us in brand new, unused condition. If you are returning your wetsuit to us by courier, please take care when packaging the wetsuit and in particular use a large, roomy box (if you scrunch it into a small box it will crease the neoprene).

CUSTOM WETSUITS: If your custom wetsuit does not fit you properly we will do everything necessary to amend and alter your wetsuit to make sure that it does. If you live locally, the best thing you can do is swing by our workshop so that we can take a look at the fit. If you do not live locally, please give us a call and we will talk you through what information we will need from you to alter your wetsuit.

WARRANTY POLICY

We are proud of the quality of our wetsuits and the standard of manufacturing and so we back our wetsuits with a 1 year warranty for defects in materials or workmanship. This means if you bring your wetsuit to us within 1 year of your purchase we will repair any defects in materials or workmanship at no cost to you; or, if we are unable after a reasonable number of attempts to repair your wetsuit, we will provide either a replacement or a full refund.

Typically a defect in the materials or workmanship covered by this warranty would be something like a defect in the gluing, stitching or neoprene. The warranty does not cover damage from using the wetsuit, e.g. rips, cuts or scuffing from rocks or getting caught on the boat, colour fading, tears from putting your suit on without lubricant, damage from improper washing, storing or drying, or general wear and tear.

Before you send your wetsuit to us, email clinton@bodyline.co.nz with photographs of the damage. This way we can tell you whether the damage is likely to fall under the warranty before you send the suit to us.

If your wetsuit is outside of the warranty period, or the damage is not covered by the warranty, we can usually still repair your wetsuit at a reasonable cost.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY WETSUIT?

Taking good care of your wetsuit will help you get the most life out of your suit. Follow our simple tips every time you use your wetsuit:

1. RINSE IN COLD WATER AFTER USE

Rinse your wetsuit in cold, fresh water after every use. Do not rinse it in hot water (as hot water damages the flexibility of the neoprene, and your wetsuit), put it in the washing machine, bleach or dry clean.

2. DRY IN SHADE AFTER RINSING

Turn your wetsuit inside out, lie it flat or hang it on a wetsuit hanger, and put it in the shade. Keep your wetsuit out of the sun, as UV rays can damage the neoprene causing it to age faster. Be careful of normal clothes hangers, as your suit will be very heavy when wet, and the heavy weight of your wetsuit can cause the shoulders of your suit to stretch-out and degrade. Wetsuit hangers are specially designed with a thick and wide design to take stress off the shoulders of your wetsuit. Drying your wetsuit inside out helps protect it from UV rays and means the inside of your suit will be dry the next time you put it on! Do not dry your wetsuit in the tumble dryer.

3. STORE IN A COOL PLACE

You should store your wetsuit in a cool place, out of the sun – and especially not in the car. Hot environments damage the neoprene, making it age faster. Lie your wetsuit flat or hang it on a wetsuit hanger; don’t fold or scrunch it as it can cause creasing and damage to the neoprene.

CAN YOU MAKE SOMETHING THAT'S NOT ON YOUR WEBSITE?

Yes! We have the materials, tools and expertise to manufacture almost anything out of neoprene. We regularly manufacture many different neoprene items including boat engine covers, neoprene furniture covers, sports straps, fender covers, prosthetic covers, stubbie holders and camera covers. We love taking on new projects and seeing how we can help you solve a problem. Send us a message and let's discuss what we can do for you.
